Teaching Philosophy

"The key, in the end, is to reveal to students what is truly essential: the world of their own creation.”

--Pierre Bayard: How To Talk About Books You Haven't Read

My purpose is to facilitate student learning and growth as artists, inside and outside of the classroom.
I am here to support you and provide you the tools your need to develop the artistic, aesthetic, and
critical thinking skills you need to be successful as a visual artist.

...Individual and class critiques are essential to give and
get feedback on the artwork created. This is where one
can learn if one is effectively expressing the ideas and
concepts one seeks to convey through art...

...This is also where one learns and develops a critical eye   for form, function, and content in the art experienced, and   builds the interpersonal skills needed to effectively
  discuss art.
